Every figure Costvanta shows traces back to one of four data classes: official data, your inputs, deterministically calculated values, or clearly labeled AI-assisted text. This page lists where each class comes from and when it was last verified.

Import Intelligence — HTS code lookup and classification

Classification candidates and duty rates come from the official US tariff schedule and CBP/USTR publications (2026 revision, ingested September 2026). Every result records the HTS revision and rule versions it used.

  • US Harmonized Tariff Schedule (USITC) — official JSON release, the full active schedule including statistical suffixes. Last verified: Sep 2026.
  • CBP Customs Rulings (rulings.cbp.gov) — public ruling texts (2021–2026) retrieved and shown as classification evidence. Last verified: Sep 2026.
  • Section 301 China tariffs (USTR) — additional duties by HTS list, with effective dates. Last verified: Sep 2026.
  • Reciprocal/IEEPA tariffs (CBP trade remedies guidance) — country-of-origin additional duties. Last verified: Sep 2026.
  • Merchandise Processing Fee (CBP) — entry fee clamps applied by the rules engine. Last verified: Sep 2026.
  • Your inputs — the product description you type. Used only to produce your own results; nothing you enter is published.
  • AI-assisted text — the reading of your product description and ruling summaries are generated with AI and labeled in the results. Rates and calculations are never AI-generated.
